Gilfillan Model 56B AM Radio - 1947
This Gilfillan AM-only radio is not only a thing of beauty; it's also a treat for the ears. This vintage AM radio sounds every bit as good as FM! This 1947 radio has a rich, resonate sound that instantly transports you back to the time when the radio was a home's entertainment center. When you turn the bakelite knob to "on," as the tubes warm, the dial briefly lights up then dims for about 20 seconds until the sound flows out of the wooden cabinet and makes you feel like you're right there in the middle of the orchestra. Then the dial gives off a golden glow. This classic radio is in very good condition. There are a few age-related scratches and a little rust on the front metal grill - you can see everything in the photographs. It has the original cord that has a small piece of electrical tape to cover a small nick. It measures 12" X 7" X 7". Tubes are still available for it, and we even found that a schematic is available online, as well. Wrap yourself in the sights and sounds of yesteryear in this fine, vintage radio.
